Grab your cloak and get ready to be transported into the magical world of Harry Potter. Universal Studios Orlando has brought J.K. Rowling’s imaginary world to life.
Step behind the wall into Diagon Alley where you will be instantly transported into the movies. It feels like you are Harry in the first book when he first enters Diagon Alley with Hagrid, trying to see all the amazing shops: Weasley’s Wizard Weezes, Quality Quidditch Supplies, Madame Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions, and Ollivanders.
Once you finish taking in that first breath-taking look you see the gem of Diagon Alley, Gringotts, complete with the fire breathing Dragon from book seven. It’s spectacular! Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is a multi-dimensional thrill ride that places you right in the middle of the action as you navigate your way through the dangerous vaults with Harry, Ron and Hermione.
The longer you wander around Diagon Alley the more you discover. The designers behind the Wizarding World of Harry Potter did a great job with all the little details in everything from the facades to rides to cast costumes. If you look long enough you may even stumbling upon Knockturn Alley. The Alley plays host to the infamous dark wizard shop Borgin and Burkes where you can get your supply of Death Eater Masks, skulls and other dark items.
Universal should get an A+ for park food in Potterworld. The Leaky Cauldron, located at the front of Diagon Alley, is a popular gathering place for witches and wizards. Visitors can relax and satisfy their hunger while enjoying a traditional British meal in rustic surroundings. Guests have the option to try anything from fish and chips to bangers and mash to cottage pie while drinking some Butterbeer or Pumpkin Juice.
If you have a park-to-park admission ticket you can also board the Hogwarts Express at King’s Cross Station to take a ride over to Hogsmeade. While aboard the train you will see spectacular views of London and the British countryside and you may even run into some different characters and creatures from the Harry Potter movies.
Overall, Potterworld is amazing. It really feels like you are stepping into one of the movies/books. Universal did an all around great job right down to the tinniest little details.
